  • PIENZA
    Pienza, a small town near Siena , is a rare example of Renaissance town building. Defined, from time to time, the "ideal city", the "utopian city", it represents one of the best planned Renaissance towns, where a model of ideal living and governing was realized by working out the idea of a town able to satisfy the need for a pacific, civil and hardworking society.

  • MONTEPULCIANO
    Montepulciano is built along a narrow limestone ridge at 605 m ( 1,950 ft ) above sea level. The town is encircled by walls and fortifications designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Elder in 1511 for Cosimo I. Inside the walls the streets are crammed with Renaissance-style palazzi and churches. The town is known for its good local Vino Nobile wines.

  • BAGNO VIGNONI
    The characteristic of Bagno Vigoni, besides the thermal waters, is its unchanged structure. Infact, the main square of this town unlike other places, because it is made by the boiling water that flows at 52°.
    The thermal water basin is in the middle of the square, closed on three sides walls, one metre and a half tall.

  • MONTALCINO
    South of Siena in the isolated and steep countryside sits the walled town of Montalcino . Here some of Italy 's best wines (the Brunello) are made.
